Q1. Why did you decide to get involved with starting the Siouxland Chapter of CFMA?

I was a member of National CFMA for a number of years. National CFMA was a great resource for information and always had great conferences. This information helped me understand the industry and determine where I could grow as a professional. However, it was only once a year. It was apparent that I was missing out on a huge piece of the value of CFMA (local chapter and network). These local relationships and speakers are what makes the difference between a good value and a great value.

Q2. How has being a part of a local chapter brought value to your company?

1) helping me understand how my role could develop and make a bigger impact on the company and the team 2) helping develop the team and myself. Understanding trends and environmental changes 3) relationships that I could lean on for help or just to ask questions 4) helped motivate me to continue to learn and grow

Q3. What is the biggest change you have seen in CFMA (local or national) since you joined?

The size of the Siouxland Chapter. It has been pretty cool to see the growth in members and the quality of programs and speakers. The start of the Heartland Regional Conference has also been fun to watch.

Q4. What do you hope to see from the Siouxland chapter in the coming years?

More of the same: 1) get involved at the team level or the board level. The more you are involved the more you will get out of CFMA 2) Take more chances - asking people to join, trying new programs, finding new topics and speakers 3) Take ownership - this is your chapter. Listen to yourself (what do I want out of CFMA?) and listen to the members (what do they want out of it?)
