Sub Specialty Contractor

  • 1.  Software Recommendations for Small Roofing Contractor

    Posted 23 days ago

I'm in the process of helping a small ($15m) roofing contractor in Florida revamp their financial system.  They are currently using QuickBooks online and are looking to move to another system that will allow for job costing, CRM, AIA invoicing, etc.

    Thanks in advance.

We are big fans of Sage 100 Contractor! Affordable and has everything we need. We're a specialty contractor of similar size.

    Hi Diane,

Full disclosure I currently work for these guys but I was previously a customer: TRUE is a cloud-based ERP software solution for the construction industry specifically specialty subcontractors. It offers all-in-one functionality from CRM tools to project management, field operations, labor tracking, procurement, inventory, AR/AP and even built-in accounting - while also being fully integrable with QuickBooks.

Just throwing our name into the hat. Feel free to check it out online and let me know if you have any questions.

    Hi Diane,

I'd recommend looking into Adaptive, especially if your client wants to stay on QuickBooks but needs a more construction-specific financial layer on top. Adaptive works directly with QBO and adds:

    • Real-time job costing (down to the line item and cost code)

    • AIA-style invoicing and draw prep

    • Structured approval workflows for AP, expenses, and change orders

    • Built-in functionality for tracking project-level financials

    • Seamless sync with field activity for accurate, up-to-date budgets

It's purpose-built for growing GCs and specialty contractors (we have several roofing clients in FL already), and it can be implemented without ripping out their existing systems. Happy to dive deeper with you... feel free to DM me.
