General Contractor

We are a general contractor in the commercial construction industry currently using Foundation, and we're exploring options for AP automation. Has anyone here integrated Foundation with Stampli? If so, I'd appreciate hearing about your experience-how the integration process went and whether you're satisfied with the solution overall.

Thank you in advance for any insights you can share.

    Hi Jayna,

Foundation only provides "read only" database access and a clunky tool used to import transactions that has many many flaws. Foundation does not provide true integration, despite their claims of releasing an API several years ago.

The struggles we've had with their FSI Importer tool include GL account job cost settings cannot be "optional job costing", no duplicate invoice entry verification, no verification if a transaction didn't import, no sales tax configuration, no invoice pay class or hold status, etc.

If you have a simple setup and don't mind the export/import process, it can still save time. But it's worth considering and planning around the constraints of their import tool.

Hi Jayna! I'm Farah with MakersHub, another AP automation platform, and we have a handful of employees here who were previously at Stampli. I also want to caveat that I'm in no way a Sales Rep, just a Marketing Leader that has done a ton of competitive analysis on behalf of the company. And I want you to have all the information!

To start the conversation, I wanted to mention a a tool called Smart Data Connect, which essentially allows MakersHub to hook up to any ERP (POs, receipts, bills, vendors, locations etc) using your own structure and almost instantly. For more complex use-cases and higher bill volumes, we also have an in-house team that can help implement API support to enable instant data transfer between our tool and Foundation.

Where MakersHub particularly stands out (and this sentiment comes directly from my colleagues who previously worked there)

    • Stampli is moving more upmarket into Enterprise, and doesn't really entertain the idea of companies with less than 1,000 employees without a massive price tag. Starting price is about $1100/month for 200 invoices + 10 users, and very unpredictable if and when your team scales.
    • Where Stampli can take about 6-9 weeks to implement, MakersHub can help your team get implemented in half that time, if not more!
    • Stampli pressures customers to opening credit lines or adopting unwanted financial products in order to receive more advantageous pricing. So if you want a negotiate a good price, you'll have to adapt their credit card. That is just not in our wheelhouse and never will be.
    • Payment speed via ACH also nets out to about 4-6 days, and if you want real-time support for an actual human, you'll need to purchase those hours in advance, and separately from your actual subscription. MakersHub prides itself on personalized onboarding for every customer!

Not to mention, our proprietary OCR technology is built in-house and extracts every single line item from the invoice with 99%+ accuracy, matches those invoices to POs and receipts, automatically codes it, and routes it to the various people who need to approve it (and as configurable as you want it to be -- whether it's vendor, project, GL code, department, amount, etc). Payment authorization serves as a separate step and its approvers can also be as configurable as you would like, and every payment in timestamped and fully trackable, from printing to deposit (if you do a lot of checks!), with images attached for verification. We are continuing to serve and help construction companies/ specialty contractors in the masses, and I would love to see if we can do the same for you!

I hope this at the very least entices you to want to learn more. And if so, you can get a quick 15 minute demo of the platform from one of my awesome colleagues by clicking HERE.

No pressure if not though, and thank you for taking the time to read this. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions, and hope you have a great rest of your night.

    Farah
