Was that Billy Goat at Wrigley Field named Todd? (The baseball metaphor continues...)

We are one week away from our much anticipated March 31st meeting and anniversary celebration and finding ourselves in what has now become familiar, if unwelcome, territory.  We received a communication yesterday from Dr. Todd Conklin that his largest corporate client has summoned him to Asia for two weeks and he will be unable to present at our meeting.

But fear not!  Dr. Conklin’s close associate, Bob Edwards, whom Dr. Conklin calls “interchangeable” with him (minus the red shoes and about 130 pounds) will be stepping in to present the same topic in his absence.  Here is some information on Mr. Edwards:

Bob Edwards understands humans.  He’s been one for 52 years!  He helps organizations realize that human error is common and can even be expected in complex work environments.  He demonstrates how, when something bad happens, our focus needs to shift from blaming those doing the work to a look at the system they are working in.  Bob draws on his life experience from the military, working in industry, outdoor extreme sports and raising a family of 12 kids to bring his presentation about Human Performance to life.  He uses a humorist style to talk about his own failures and successes in life to help the audience relax a little about failure and focus more on learning and collaboration.  He is the leading expert on Human Performance Learning Teams and has led over 250 Learning Team sessions.  His approach brings real value to those who do the work and helps managers understand better the complexity and adaptive nature of work.  Bob is high energy and engaging and the audience will find that they have gone on a journey by the end of the presentation.  Bob has a BS degree in mechanical engineering from Tennessee Technological University and MS degree in Advanced Safety Engineering Management from the University of Alabama Birmingham.

If you have any concerns that Mr. Edwards will be any less dynamic or informative than Dr. Conklin, check out this blog post from an attendee to one of his presentations:

Please plan on joining us for this educational and entertaining look at human performance.  We ask that you RSVP here by Thursday, March 26th if you have not done so already.

Once again, we thank our very generous sponsors for making this event possible!

Following Mr. Edwards’ presentation we will be celebrating our chapter’s tenth (and eleventh) anniversary, recognizing our founding members and have now added a “lifting of the curse” ceremony to ward off whatever bad juju has brought on the series of mishaps that has caused last minute changes to our last three chapter meetings!  (Can I get a volunteer to bring a goat?)
