I am excited about our December meeting and hope you are as well. Not only do we have one of our top speakers returning, but we will also be celebrating our chapter's 10th anniversary!
First, to Dr. Todd Conklin. If you did not attend his presentation five years ago, then you wouldn't know that he is a leading expert in the field of safety and human performance. He is someone companies call on after a major incident to analyze their safety equipment and procedures to determine how to prevent a failure in the future. Behavior-based safety programs have been around a long time now, but Dr. Conklin asks us to look at factors that precede an employee's decision to commit an unsafe act and how management could be unwittingly creating an environment where an unsafe choice seems like the right choice to the employee in the moment.
If you didn't attend his last presentation, you also wouldn't know that Dr. Conklin is as entertaining as he is knowledgeable. This afternoon will be as fun as it is informative so we encourage you to bring supervisors, foremen, managers and owners along. It is a great opportunity to showcase the value of CFMA to your organization.

Following the meeting, we will be celebrating our chapter's tenth anniversary. We will recognize those responsible for bringing CFMA to the Siouxland area and will hear a few words from Catherine Wasner, Acting Director of Chapter Services for CFMA. There will be drinks (two free drink tickets are provided for each attendee) and appetizers so please stick around and celebrate with us!
Also note our change of venue. We will be at the Hilton Garden Inn in downtown Sioux Falls for this meeting.
