Pre-Qual and Re-Qual of Subcontratcors

Pre-qualification of subcontractors by GCs is a standard practice. An efficient and effective tool to better understand a contractor's liquidity, leverage and overall short-term financial position is through a Contractor Score. GCs and owners across North America are using Contractor Score as a tool to provide that greater transparency.

A Sub's financial condition can change over the course of a longer project. Or, more critically, change as they are contracted on multiple jobs simultaneously. A GC should monitor the subs' financial condition regularly. Default may be rare, but delays from a financially weak sub is an almost certainty.
