We are an Electrical Contractor all commercial, and currently use Viewpoint Teams but are looking at Procore.  Anyone using Project Sight or Procore, I'd appreciate hearing reviews.

We evaluated ProjectSight about two years ago as a Vista customer. During our evaluation, the estimating and prefab functionality ultimately fell short of our expectations and was one of the primary reasons we decided not to move forward.

We also had a difficult time getting customer references. Initially, Trimble pointed us to a case study, but we wanted to speak directly with customers. After some persistence, they connected us with one reference, and we found another on our own. The customer Trimble connected us with had a successful implementation, but they dedicated a PM to serve as their ProjectSight champion and invested significant time customizing the platform to fit their processes. They also shared that support was very limited at the time. The other contractor had used ProjectSight on a single project and ultimately decided to move away from it.

We ultimately selected Procore and are currently in implementation. The deciding factors for us were Procore's customer service, strong reputation, and widespread adoption. It was much easier to find peers using Procore and get candid feedback from companies similar to ours.

Our overall experience with Trimble also influenced our decision. During our ProjectSight evaluation, we were promised a sandbox environment that ultimately wasn't made available. At the same time, we were navigating our Vista Cloud migration, and our experience with Trimble's sales and support teams during that process reinforced our concerns.

As a Vista customer, we wanted ProjectSight to be the obvious choice because of the integration. Based on our evaluation and overall experience, we felt Procore was the better long-term investment for our company.

We are a mechanical contractor and also looked at Vista Project Site as a Vista user with hopes it would be the right platform for us.  After beginning implementation of Project Site, we found the platform fell short of our needs in the field, specifically related to viewing/marking drawings in the field.  We stopped implementation and decided to go with Autodesk Forma (formerly Autodesk Construction Cloud).  Many of our clients were already using ACC/Forma so our operations teams were very familiar with the product.  We are also familiar with Procore as many clients are using that platform but found ACC/Forma to meet our needs best!

As a fellow CFO, you might find it valuable to connect with my CFO, Natalie Matheus, CPA. Before joining Anterra Tech (add-on software), Natalie spent years at EMCOR Construction Services, where she led 15 Vista implementations and more than $600M in acquisition integrations. She also regularly speaks at CFMA on Bridging the Gap Between Construction & Finance, helping finance and operations leaders align around better forecasting, reporting, and decision-making. No sales pitch-just one finance leader sharing lessons learned with another.

    - One trend we've seen is that many contractors invest in Procore for project management, then come to Anterra to bring their Procore and Vista data together in one place for executive reporting, forecasting, and dynamic WIP. It's a powerful combination that gives leadership a single source of truth across both operations and finance.

If you'd like an introduction to Natalie or to hear what we've learned from working with hundreds of construction companies, I'd be happy to make the connection.

An AWESOME term to get in your agreement (as terms are as important as the software), is a term to protect you from Cloud Cuffing.  (see below)

Also see attached for more terms that will help.   These types of terms ensure shared risk, instead of you taking on all the risk if things dont end up as expected.

    Protection from Cloud Cuffing

Cloud cuffing occurs when a software provider makes it difficult or expensive for a customer to leave by restricting access to their own data or forcing unnecessary subscription renewals.

To protect against this, include terms such as:

    1. Data Export Rights
The software provider must provide tools that allow the customer to export and package all of their data in standard, usable formats at any time.
    2. Flexible Payment During Transition
If the customer chooses to move to another software provider, they may switch from annual to quarterly payments during the transition period, without extending or renewing their subscription.
