Looking for some insight into how other subcontractors are paying (or not paying) the time spent traveling to projects from the shop.
We have roughly 150 employees that are traveling up to 2+ hours a day to project locations. Our pay rate for travel was recently changed from hourly to mileage. This has become increasingly difficult to manage and has only reduced our cost slightly.
We have considered doing away with travel pay altogether (only when mobilizing to one project, any time spent traveling from project to project is still paid as required by the state of WI) but are concerned we will risk losing employees.
Any suggestions/advice that has worked for your company(s) would be appreciated!
