  • 1.  Time keeping across multiple companies

    Posted 13 days ago

    All:

Currently in the market for a new time keeping solution.
We have multiple operating units in several states.  For time keeping we have three must haves:

    • Geofencing
    • Image capture at punch in and out
    • Ability to use some/all employees in multiple entities

Any ideas would be most helpful.

    Best,

    Larry

We use ClockShark for our install crews and it works great.

    Hey Larry!

We use eForms Mobile for Time Keeping.  They have an amazing platform that we use for time AND a ton of other things (inspections, reports, messaging, daily tickets, audits, credit card rcpts, AP, etc).  Our time imports into our accounting software as well!  You can check them out!

    Hi @Laurence Scacchi

I'd strongly encourage you to consider building this in Microsoft Power Apps. It checks every one of your must-haves natively, and it gives you something most packaged solutions can't: full control and seamless integration with whatever ERP you're running today (and whatever you move to next).

Here's why Power Apps is the smarter play:

    1. ERP agnostic integration that actually scales. Power Apps connects natively to virtually any ERP through Power Automate, Dataverse, and 1,000-plus prebuilt connectors. Whether you're on Vista, Spectrum, Sage, Procore, or anything else, the time data flows directly into your payroll and job cost modules without manual exports or middleware fees. If you ever switch ERPs, you reconfigure the connector instead of replacing your entire timekeeping stack.

    2. Geofencing and image capture are built right in. The platform leverages the device's native GPS and camera, so you can enforce geofenced punches by job site and require a photo at clock-in and clock-out. No third-party add-ons, no separate licensing. You set the rules once, and they apply across every operating unit, every state, every crew.

    3. Multi-entity employee assignment with zero friction. This is where packaged products usually break down. Power Apps lets you build a flexible data model where one employee can be tied to multiple entities, jobs, or cost centers, and the app can dynamically prompt them at punch-in to select which entity they're working for that shift. Role-based security keeps the right people in the right buckets, and the data lands cleanly in each entity's ledger.

Bonus benefit worth mentioning: because you already pay for Microsoft 365, the licensing cost is dramatically lower than most dedicated time-keeping platforms, and you own the IP forever.

Happy to walk you through what a build like this looks like.
