General Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance from four-year college or university
- Fundamental knowledge of GAAP
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
- 3+ years of relevant working experience either in public accounting or in private industry preferably in the construction industry
- Relevant experience includes accounting and analysis, journal entries, running financial reports, and maintenance of the general ledger, payroll, accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Experience with agency audits
- Deadline and detail-oriented
- Strong knowledge of MS Excel and Power BI
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Evaluate financial documents for accuracy and compliance
- Identify financial risk of the organization and offer recommendations to reduce risk
- Identity accounting and financial record keeping processes that can be improved
- Assess the efficiency and productivity and make recommendations for process improvement
- Analysis of financial data for the purpose of preparation of forecasting of department budgets
- Prepare various ad-hoc financial reporting
- Assist with multi-state payroll tax setup
- Maintenance of general ledger and some reconciliation of accounts
- Job cost adjustments
- Maintains business licenses in all city and states
- Union accrual analysis
- Use tax returns for all state and local agencies
- Assists with annual audits (property tax, insurance, etc.)
- Performs variance analysis of overhead accounts
- Performs timely month end tasks
- Assists with problem solving and helps resolve issues/concerns proactively
- Maintains a documented system of accounting policies and procedures
- Provides timely and consistent communication and insight to all departments
- Assists with accounting and payroll inquires
- Performs other related duties as assigned
