I helped CFMA launch the mental health and suicide prevention movement in construction leading to the formation of the Construction Industry Alliance for Suicide Prevention in Oct 2016.
On 3/15/24 I joined national nonprofit SAFE Project, which stands for Stop the Addiction Fatality Epidemic. I continue to regularly speak at CFMA Annual Conference and write for Building Profits.
This message is targeting Members with personnel and operations located in the Northern Virginia Area, including Wash DC & Maryland, too.
Due to a new grant issued, SAFE Project was requested to host another of its popular and effective Military Wellness Program.
WHO: Any military-connected person, including: Active Duty or Reserve Veteran, and/or Family or Caregiver of Veterans.
- This includes any employer representatives from Safety, Human Resources, Employee Benefits and/or Operations who wants to provide more effective mental health and wellbeing support to Veterans.
WHAT: Military Wellness Program focused on teaching techniques and tools to improve physical and emotional wellbeing by identifying and reducing stressors and challenges impacting quality of life for Veterans and Caregivers. Focused on improving mental health, substance misuse, and suicide prevention.
WHEN: 3 dates are available: Dec 17, 18 or 19.
- The program runs from 830-4 pm.
WHERE: Arlington, VA -- See flyer for specific address
WHY: The Virginia Department of Veterans Services (DVS) is investing funding to address challenges commonly experienced by Veteran populations. This program is evidenced-based and drives measurable outcomes improving the wellness and wellbeing of Veterans.
Construction recruits and hires many Veterans transitioning from Active Duty and Reservists as well. This is an opportunity for leaders to learn supportive techniques to promote Veteran Wellness.
I have cc'd my colleague and friend Kelly Niedzwiecki if you have questions. Kelly N is the Sr. Director for SAFE Veterans and Caregivers Portfolio at SAFE Project. She is a Veteran and pours her heart into helping Veterans, families and caregivers.
Thank you very much!
