Does anyone use BuildOps

Does anyone use BuildOps for their service and installation tracking?  If so what are your thoughts?  Do you like it?  Did you use a different platform prior to switching?  Thank you

    Hi Christopher -

Would you be willing to share how things are going with Build Ops and what ERP you are using to integrate with Build Ops?   We are just now starting an implementation with Build Ops and I'm starting to get a bad feeling about it.  Just wondering how your implementation went and how you like it so far.

    Thank you!

    Hello Christopher,

We started into the Build Ops integration with our ERP system Viewpoint Spectrum. Unfortunately, pulled the plug and feel they were not ready for a company our size (50M in revenue). Would still be interested in the future but Build Ops has a lot that needs fixed before we would look at them again.

    Lori,

We are in the same situation. Our service division started implementing BuildOps last year, but didn't approach the integration with our ERP (Vista/Viewpoint) until November and there have been a lot of issues that we are working through.  As of right now we have no planned "go-live" date.  I'd be happy to discuss.

    Thanks,

    Hi Christopher,

We are an electrical contractor looking for a solution to replace Vista Service Management and BuildOps was at the top of our list because of the integration claims.  Has your experience improved and have you been able to "go-live" yet?  If you have some time to discuss, I would appreciate any feedback.

We bought BuildOps and implemented but are looking to move to something else.  They sold us on all the things that we wanted but some are not going to be developed now and they decided the implementation with CMIC is too expensive.  So unless you are small enough to use QuickBooks as your ERP, i would not recommend BuildOps.

    Erin,

As of right now we have not gone live as we were waiting for some additional functionality and need to a lot of testing before we give it the green light.  I'd be happy to discuss to help you avoid any pitfalls.  Feel free to give me a call.

    Thanks,

    Chris

    Good morning!

We use ComputerEase and just switched to Service Trade instead of Build Ops. We heard from other CE users that the integration was not working. I would try to reach out to other users of your accounting/ERP system to make sure that everything works as advertised.

    Good Luck!

    Hi Melissa,

Our Service division started using BuildOps last year and we have mixed feelings on the platform. Overall I would say it has been a positive for us, but not in line with our initial expectations.

We use Sage 300 for our ERP and the integration has been very bumpy. With Sage 300, BuildOps has to work with HH2 for connection. With many other ERPs they build their own direct connection and have more control, so probably a better outcome. Also, the integration with Sage 300 was not completely built out before we signed up, which should have been a red flag to us. Definitely ask to see every function you need to do your business before moving forward. Several things we thought were very basic functions turned out to not be possible with BuildOps and we were left scrambling after go-live to create work-arounds. It all ended up working out, but caused a lot of extra stress during an already stressful time.

The platform itself is very easy for day-to-day use. Training the techs was the easiest part and it greatly improved the notes/paperwork/photos we got back from them. Our billing turnaround time came down drastically (from 15 days to 2 days!). Our customers like the field reports that BuildOps produces. Searching for information is easy. We were using Service Management within Sage before, plus an add-on for the tech access, plus an excel spreadsheet to track the status of every job. BuildOps is a huge improvement and once we got used to the tags and the flow of BuildOps it worked well for the office team as well.

There is a lot of potential with the reporting, but it hasn't been as simple as it was said to be...taking several months to get our basic monthly reports built and working properly. I felt like I really had to push for our training and keep it on track. We had to escalate issues on several occasions to get action, but in the end we did get resolutions. Early on we had very quick resolutions from their support team, but lately some will take several weeks (if there is a resolution at all) for sync errors or questions. Our client success manager is good, but busy. When we have his attention he is great, but it can be hard to get his attention. If you go into the process knowing all of this and having a main integration contact that is up for the challenge, then it can definitely be a great option.

Feel free to reach out if you have any other questions!

Melissa, we starting using Build Ops in September.  We had some rough starts, but are starting to see the investment paying off.  Our customers like the reports and timely billings and our field is accepting the rollout.  Even some of more cankerous electricians that had issues with paper work are starting to embrace and like it.  The biggest issue we have had is working with Build Ops, they have had some missed deadlines and we have had some issues with our consultant.  We are a Viewpoint/Spectrum ERP user.  I can put you in touch with my Business Systems Analyst who has been running the project if you like
