On July 30th, a group of Siouxland members boarded a bus at Tre’ Lounge and headed out to visit some job sites. The first stop was the Scheel’s Ice rink, then Concrete Materials new office building, and then on to CTE Academy.
The ice rink can have three sheets of ice. Part of the time, one sheet will be will be utilized by the Stampede for practice. During the other times, the sheets of ice will be utilized for various activities. One sheet of ice can be removed and the space utilized for other activities (it has a concrete base whereas the other two sheets of ice are on a base of sand). There was talk about driving a Zamboni, but none were available for our tour.

Concrete Materials new office building had about one week left before they were moving in. One of the unique items was the movable, smart walls, and even had a concrete reception desk in the shape of a “C.”
CTE Academy was very interesting. The principal gave us a tour of the facility. It doesn’t look very big from the outside, but it seemed very large during the tour. We saw the welding, cabinet making, and the house building areas. We also saw the various other areas including auto mechanics, dining, and media.

Thank you to the project managers for the tours and to CTE Academy for the tour, it was very informative and fun.
After the tours, we returned to Tre’ Lounge for some appetizers, drinks, and networking. Hope to see you there next year.
