Siouxland CFMA Chapter President, Kit Gleason and Vice President, Cindy Cosand were privileged yesterday to attend a sponsor recognition event at the Sioux Falls School District's Career and Technical Education Academy. The CTE Academy's construction-related programs have been beneficiaries of funds raised at our annual Industry Builder Golf Tournament for the past two years.
If you have not had the opportunity to tour the CTE facilities, you really should make arrangements to do so. The programs at the CTE Academy have grown from around 500 students in 2010 when the school opened to nearly 1000 students from 16 different schools this school year. The school district has done an exceptional job with the programs and facilities. Local businesses and trade organizations who recognize the great need for skilled workers have partnered with the school to provide equipment, materials, internships and other educational support like seminars in the classroom and worksite tours.
We would like to recognize retiring Sioux Falls School Superintendent, Pam Homan, for her role in bringing this concept to fruition during her time in Sioux Falls and also CTE Academy Principal Jim Kayl, for working diligently to build community partnerships that provide real-world experiences for the students. The CTE Academy is a win-win for the community and for area students and the Siouxland Chapter CFMA is proud to be one of their partners.
If your business can offer support to the CTE Academy with funding, equipment, materials, projects, internships or seminars, contact Jim Kayl.
