  • Puget Sound CFMA gives charitable donation to Treehouse's Wearhouse Renovation Campaign

    Treehouse's Wearhouse provides youth in foster care with clothes and shoes, school supplies, toys and books. The Wearhouse will be transformed into a space that better meets the needs of their youth and caregivers.

  • Salvation Army Coats for Kids

    On October 18th, 8 members of the Dakota Chapter spent the afternoon volunteering at the Fargo/Moorhead Salvation Army Coats for Kids event. We assisted families in need in finding proper winter coats, hats, gloves, etc. It was a meaningful experience for each of us. This event really highlights the need for more people to donate to our local coat drive. Watch for more info on when and where you can donate your gently used winter clothing next year!

  • Chapter Updates

    Members of the Maryland Chapter of the CFMA, I wanted to write you and let you know about some of the recent activity we’ve had at our Chapter.

    October has been a VERY busy month for us. We had a very successful CPE training day on October 5th; we brought in a number of speakers to discuss various hot topics our industry is facing today. The Board Members and Officers then went to the Ronald McDonald House in Baltimore on October 18th and cooked dinner for about 35 people, all of whom are families staying at the House while their young children are being treated in local area hospitals. On October 24th we held our annual charity golf tournament at Rolling Road Country Club where we were able to raise money for the Ronald McDonald House.

    On October 25th, the Board Members and Officers met for our annual Strategic Retreat. We followed up on action items from last year’s retreat and completed a comprehensive SWOT analysis. Our chapter is in great shape financially and we have grown...

  • 2nd Annual Toys for Tots Drive!

    Share your heart with a child this holiday season. We are collecting again this year, and would love to deliver more toys than ever! Bring to our November and December Meetings, drop off at C. Abbonizio Contractors in Deptford, or contact any board member! We will also take monetary donations for this great cause.

  • CFMA Holiday Social – SAVE THE DATE!

    Plans are underway for our annual Holiday Social and Toys For Tots drive! We are moving to a new venue this year, and very excited that Cinco’s at Akers Mill Square will be hosting our event on December 8th from 5:30 – 7:30.

    As always, this event is free to all members – we only ask for a new and unwrapped toy as your admission price. But because of rising prices, we are also offering sponsorship opportunities.     On 9/22, The Dakota Chapter invited Dave Berry of FMI to speak to the chapter regarding communication gaps. Dave touched on how important effective communication is and what a challenge it can be in business. He discussed how different generations prefer to communicate (phone calls v. texting, etc) and how different personalities can struggle to have effective communication.

  • Prevailing Wages

    On July 14th, the Dakota Chapter hosted an event on Davis Bacon/Prevailing Wage Laws. Tom Revnew from Seaton, Peters, Revnew spoke about the in's and out's of prevailing wage rules and challenges. There was a great turnout for this meeting, and the attendees benefited not only from Tom's words of wisdom, but also from each other as they engaged in great conversation on this subject. This was CFMA networking at its best!
