We're a specialty trade contractor with 51 employees. We use QuickBooks Time for all hourly employees and certain salaried employees whose time is directly costed to jobs. We run payroll weekly. We have 200+ active jobs, mostly residential, and some large jobs that require certified payroll. We do a monthly WIP.
I am looking for an expert in QuickBooks Time and Payroll to improve how we use them. I am particularly interested in simplifying the user interface, reducing manual entries and saving us all time and frustration. Here's an example of what I'd like to change. We have paid holidays for 2023, yet we manually enter them for each employee for the week of the holiday at the time the manager is reviewing the time for approval. I have more examples, but with MLK Day this week this particular issue is particularly irksome. Another example is that for all indirect time the employee has to add Luminalt as a customer to enter their time, and then when time is imported, the person running payroll deletes Luminalt as the customer so the time is not directly costed to job Luminalt and correctly allocated to indirect costs.
Our payroll person is retiring after nearly a decade. She's transitioned payroll to me and after doing it for three weeks, I'm fully appreciating why she was so enthusiastic about transitioning payroll to me! My ardent hope is that I'll be able to work with an outside expert that will help make it less burdensome for my colleagues and the person that I bring on to do payroll.
I would greatly appreciate any referrals to anyone fabulous you know who would be able to assist us. For those that sell competing timekeeping programs and payroll systems, please don't tell me how great your products are and how we should buy them. I am interested in improving what we've got and getting someone in to run payroll. Once that's done successfully, I may consider alternatives, but not now.
