  • 1.  Is anyone using Paperless OCR?

    We currently use Sage Paperless Construction with Sage 300 CRE and are looking to add Paperless OCR.  The demo is very intriguing but before moving forward I'm looking for feedback from anyone already using Paperless OCR.....  Your overall impression of the software, has it created the efficiencies as expected, was implementation and the customization process easy, any unexpected hurdles or anything you wish you had known prior.  Information on your volume would be helpful also.  We process approximately 650 invoices/month and are looking for this software to allow that number to increase without the need for an additional hire.

    Ive been a paperless user for many years and recently implemented the OCR side of it. We are currently using foundation, but the OCR engine is the same. My experience with the implementation of it was good, but there are some things that will change your experience. We dont use PO's so the OCR program is reading and mapping only the Invoice Header Info. We still have to go in and enter the actual invoice distribution. 

    The implementation is to have 10 invoices from your 10 biggest (volume) suppliers. You start sending them to the cloud to train the ocr where on the invoices to "look" for the header information and train it to key in on the correct stuff. Once you are done with one, you go to the next. After about 10 vendors your AP person becomes proficient enough on how to train the system so you can do the rest of the vendors.

    There is a table where you can enter one off info if the invoices dont get OCR'd correctly (punctuaiton and dbas etc) so it is pretty flexible. 

    I would absolutely do it again.

    I wasn't aware OCR was an option with Foundation.  Is it a third party you're using?
