As many of you know CFMA and AEMP have partnered to establish KPI's to benchmark and improve your heavy equipment fleet's performance.  The Heavy Equipment Comparator is a comprehensive set of standard measurements, definitions and KPI's to for heavy equipment fleet management.

The very first survey is underway and there is still time to participate.  By completing at least 12 of the 32 metrics, there are some great benefits that you and your company will receive including: 1)  Interactive Peer Report Credit, 2) Company Performance Report, and 3) Heavy Equipment Comparator PDF Report (50% off)

We understand that you may not be able to provide data for all or even the majority of the metrics the first time around, and that is perfectly fine and expected.  This is designed to be a learning and growing endeavor aimed at improving fleet management practices and analytics within the industry. Your participation is highly valued and will help make this survey a great tool for years to come.

There are plenty of tools and help available in the form of a spreadsheet and videos which are available here:

How does your fleet management measure up to the competition?

We are also happy to respond to questions and provide any assistance to complete the survey.  Thanks, --Rich

    Rich:

I applaud the effort but really feel the bigger step is establishing a software partnership where the Construction Equipment Maintenance Software players (standalone or ERP integrated) establish an AEMP partnership that collects this diverse data more uniformly in each respective software, for entering into the Comparator tool.  It would seem to have more accurate future comparative value.   My hesitation is that EM mgrs. may be inclined to estimate their own shops in a glorious favorable light.

    Any thoughts?

    Hi David,

Thank so much for your thoughts.  We are hopeful that with the establishment of standards by CFMA and AEMP that ERP and data analytics software vendors will develop reports and dashboards.  You raise an interesting thought regarding a standard import template to upload the survey data.  That is something I will discuss with our group for the future.

On the data, I trust that we will get credible information from the equipment managers and financial folks, especially since we are starting with an educated group of AEMP and CFMA members and have a third party in Industry Insights processing the survey data.

    Thanks, --Rich
