Does anyone have any experience with software that helps manage the material procurement process? Specifically, I'm looking for something that can handle the different variables prior to writing a purchase order:
- Original bid extension report with quantity, unit price, and extended price
- Multiple vendor quotes with unit price and extended price. We need to compare unit price by cost category (wire, pvc, steel, etc), by item, and by total.
- The ability to handle material substitutions compared to the extension report. Inevitably, what we buy for a job is not what was estimated. We need to compare how the substitutions fit in the original budget
- The addition of change orders through a project.
- Overall job budget tracking
I don't know if this type of software exists out there but I thought i'd check. Our ERP software has something but it is limited in its capacity to do everything we need.
