We are assisting a growing KC subcontractor in their search for a controller, assistant controller and payroll assistant. Please see details below:
Controller:
Job Duties:
- Manage internal accounting staff
- Preparation of internal financial statements
- Review day to day accounting operations, including but not limited to:
- Weekly payroll, deductions and garnishments
- Coordinate approval of staff PTO
- Payroll and unemployment taxes
- Sales taxes
- Union payroll targeting and union reports
- Prevailing wage / Certified payroll
- City of Kansas City, Missouri workforce audits
- New job setup
- HR administration and reporting for benefit plans, EEOC and ACA
- Insurance compliance and reporting for property, liability and workers' comp
- Job cost accounting and indirect cost allocations
Qualifications and skills required:
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or related discipline
- Minimum 5 years accounting experience in a senior accounting or financial management role in Construction
- Familiarity with Sage 300 software, certified payroll, union targeting and union reporting
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Impeccable analytical and organizational skills
- Self-motivated and self-directed
Assistant Controller:
Job Duties:
- Preparation of day to day accounting reporting, including but not limited to:
- Weekly payroll for office employees
- Payroll and unemployment taxes
- Maintain schedules for month end
- Setup new construction jobs
- HR tasks such as maintaining records, insurance enrollments, garnishment setup, benefit plan reporting
- Assist controller on projects and internal accounting team, as needed
Qualifications and skills required:
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or related discipline
- Minimum 3 years accounting experience in a senior accounting or financial management role in Construction
- Familiarity with Sage 300 software, certified payroll, union targeting and union
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Impeccable analytical and organizational skills
- Self-motivated and self-directed
Payroll Position:
Job Duties:
- Maintains payroll records
- Assist with weekly payroll function for field employees
- Verify approval of hours with the appropriate management personnel prior to issuing payroll checks
- Calculate and deduct appropriate amounts from payroll checks, including tax withholdings, fringes and other garnishments
- Process certified payroll and targets weekly
- Assist with monthly union and workforce reports
- Update accounting calendar for field employees
- Complete employment verifications and other human resources related functions
Qualifications and skills required:
- High school diploma/GED required (Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field preferred)
- Minimum two years payroll experience
- Ability to process basic functions and formulas in Microsoft Excel
- Familiarity with Sage 300 payroll software, certified payroll, union targeting and union reporting
- Strong attention to detail required
