In my blog I mentioned I'd love to see a group created for and by young professionals to network and provide feedback to the chapter.  Most of the current and past executive committee members are baby boomers.  To that extent, we understand that we have to begin the transition of our chapter with the millennia's and Gen X'ers in mind.

I'd like to hear from a 20 or 30 something to take the lead on this.  At a minimum, I'd like some feedback on what you all seek out of, and/or what adds value to your membership.  What do you think will increase membership?  What education topics or activities would you like us to implement?

I'm in my late 20s and I'm eager to learn and want to bring value to my company. I was in public accounting for several years and recently moved over to private industry with Shaw Electric. I don't have a CFO over me to help mentor, so it's important to me to reach out to other individuals in the profession to gain knowledge and get ideas so that I can do my job better and succeed.

That's aweome Jessica!  I've been a member of CFMA for about seven years and I've reached out to KC chapter and other national members on several occasions.  Each interaction has always been positive and supportive.  The basic attitude has been to help each other learn, and to improve the credibility of our profession.  I never hear the "competitor" vs. "competitor" vibe.  From that standpoint I'm sure you will get your monys worth from the chapter.

I'd be interested in hearing what educational, networking, or other opportunities/activities you (or any other young professionals reading this discussion) would like to see from our chapter in he future.
