    Creating a Successful Partnership with CFO’s and Project/Operations

    Summary:

    Following a brief introduction by local Project Operations panelists, join your peers in a Project Operations roundtable discussion concerning day to day challenges, successes, and best practices. The session is intended to help accounting and operations understand their business objectives and create a successful partnership.

    Panelists:

    Rusty Medlin, Joeris 

    Rusty Medlin has over 25 years of experience in the construction industry.  He currently serves as Project Executive at Joeris General Contractors and he has executive level experience in Estimating, Project Management, Pre-Construction, Corporate Finance and Record Keeping. He has managed a wide variety of project types including educational, retail, office, medical and sports/entertainment complexes. In addition, Rusty was the leader of his family’s construction firm for more than 14 years. He served as the company’s president and was responsible for the firm’s daily operations, including estimating and business development. Rusty is well-versed in all phases of construction and is comfortable at any level of project involvement. He is highly knowledgeable with CM at Risk, Negotiated and Design/Build delivery methods. Rusty is also adept at the financial management and scheduling of complex construction projects. He is a tremendous asset to any project and the Joeris team.

    Rusty also serves on the Board of Directors for both Comal and Southwest Education Foundations.  As an active member, he leads fund raising committees as Chair and Co-Chair for the Casino Night and Golf Tournament Events.  

    Chris Jarowski, Zachry 

    Chris Jaworski is a construction professional with more than 23 years of experience, the last 13 years with Zachry Construction Corporation. Chris has managed some of the signature projects in San Antonio for Zachry, including the Tobin Center for the Performing Arts and the commercial building aspects of the Museum Reach section of the San Antonio River Improvement Project. He most recently managed expansion of the Spoetzl Brew House in Shiner, Texas, and is currently the project manager for Austin’s Waller Creek Parks expansion along the shores of Lady Bird Lake.

    Chris graduated with a B.S. in Architecture from the University of Texas at San Antonio and began his professional career as a draftsman for architecture firms in San Antonio. Chris got his passion for building at an early age building houses and multi-family residences as a rough carpenter for over 5 years in Florida.

    Chris is married, has two young children, and enjoys playing soccer and camping in his spare time.

    Rob Urban, CCC Group 

    Rob Urban is 35 year veteran of the construction industry. He has held positions at CCC Group, Inc. from Project Manager to his current position of VP Western Group. He provides overall management direction for CCC Group’s Western region including implementing corporate policies, procedures and performance standards. He actively participates in the management and successful execution of all Western Group projects through the effective use of personnel, equipment and other corporate resources.

    Rob has worked on or supervised projects of varying size, industries and complexity. These range from small marine projects to a complete greenfield cement plant.

    Rob earned a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Texas A&M University and a M.S. in Systems Management from USC. He is a former Captain in United States Marine Corp, is active in CII research teams and has attended the CII Executive Leadership Program.

    Rob and his wife, Amanda, have seven children and both are active in their pursuits including the Corpus Christi Ballet. They are also avid A&M fans!

    James Anderson, Bartlett Cocke 

    James Anderson has acquired over twenty years of construction industry experience while working for Bartlett Cocke General Contractors.   During his tenure, James has served as Senior Project Manager on many of Barlett Cocke General Contractors’ largest and most complex projects and now serves as Vice President of Operations, South Texas Region. He achieves success through developing strong partnerships and building rapport with clients, architects, engineers and members of his project teams. James is an Officer, member of the Board of Directors and Operations Team and an employee-owner of Bartlett Cocke General Contractors.

    James graduated with a B.S. in Construction Science from Texas A&M University. He is a member of the Construction Industry Advisory Council (CIAC), Texas A&M University and the American Society of Healthcare Engineering (ASHE).

    James is married and has two children. He enjoys hunting, fishing and traveling with his family.
