Construction is the number one industry for number of suicides and the number two industry in suicide rates. As such, it is an industry imperative to shatter the mental health stigma and create caring cultures within our companies. To help focus these efforts, CFMA has established the Construction Industry Alliance for Suicide Prevention, with the goal of providing and disseminating information and resources for suicide prevention and mental health promotion in construction.
The Middle Tennessee Chapter of CFMA has partnered with the Middle Tennessee Branch of the AGC of TN, the Nashville Chapter of NAWIC, and the Greater Tennessee Chapter of the Associated Builders and Contractors to present the 2017 Suicide Prevention Summit on August 24, 2017.
At this summit you will learn:
- Industry and workforce risk factors that make suicide risk a concern in construction.
- How to protect your workforce and their families by starting a dialogue on this topic.
- How to change company culture and policy to remove the stigma mental health issues.
- Local community mental health resources and how to tap into these services.
