We have used Sage Fixed Assets for years.  We don't use any of Sage's other software, but have not found a better solution for Fixed Assets.  Check out

We just buyout the fixed assets record keeping as part of our renewal/marketing for audit/tax work with our CPA firm.   They then do it for much less than the software & time cost would be for us to do in-house as it becomes kind of a throw in.   We then give them any activity each quarter & they can handle all the tax depreciation fun.

Kinda like payroll, I don't know why you would ever want to do fixed asset depreciation in house unless you had no other choice.   That being said does anyone know any payrolls providers that could handle union & workmen comp payrolls/reporting  (multiple rates/benefits per location or work type) so I can outsource that too?  (would have to be able to do it for less than 50% (or at least close) of a PR/AP clerk).   I've heard many a sales person tell me that they can do that, but once you get into the details they have never really done it, but are sure that their "technical people" could develop a solution.

We were using Sage Fixed Assets up until a week ago.  My CPA's switched last year from that to Procore's Asset Keeper, so I am following suit with them as the program is $499 vs my renewal cost of $1,300 on Sage.  I just mainly want it for the asset tracking and depreciation, so my user need isn't extremely technical and this seems to fit it nicely.  Fairly intuitive to use.  It was rated very highly by several accounting magazines also.

We also use Asset Keeper Pro from Pro-Ware. It's inexpensive and does everything I need it to. I maintain depreciation for book, tax, AMT, and 4 states. The reporting is also fairly robust.

I've used Asset Keeper Pro for a client.  The client has been happy and took over maintenance of the file.

Due to the ability to calculate tax depreciation, it may be a little over complicated for the average contractor that is looking for book depreciation only.  You just need to learn which fields are necessary and which to ignore.

    Hi Richard,

We purchased Asset Keeper Pro three years ago.  From the pro side, very inexpensive, fairly user friendly and constantly being updated for changing tax law.  From the con side, my only complaint would be the lack of available training, upfront or subsequent - I am mostly self taught and have enlisted the assistance of our external accountants, that also use the program, when I have encountered a problem I couldn't solve.

Feel free to reach out with any questions.

We use a simple program from Moneysoft called Fixed Asset Pro.  Very simple and inexpensive but it does the trick.

We use the Fixed Assets CS by Thomson Reuters. We use their Ultra Tax CS package as well. It works great and integrates with one another.
