We have had the worst experience with ComData. Every month there are unexplained fees on the invoice, in addition we've been charged for interest and late fee payments, despite having ACH with them. They do deduct the money from the account automatically, however, they don't deduct the whole amount; therefore, causing late fees and interest charges. Every month, I am informed that I should see the credit in my next invoice and yet nothing happens & I have encountered additional unexplained fees.
Planning to close the account AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. Is there a fuel card program that you would recommend? We need fuel cards for each of the vehicles and need to have monthly reports for job costing purposes.

Sorry to hear the problems you have had.
We have used ComData for a long time and have not had the kind of issues you are describing. Occasionally we there is an issue on an invoice, we contact our Service rep and normally corrected within 3 weeks or less.
I would follow up with your relationship manager. They can do better than you are experiencing.

We are going to cancel our MasterCard with Comdata. Just the mere fact that if we reach our credit limit and want to pay towards our account before the closing date Comdata doesn't allow it. Last month we reached our limit with almost 2 weeks remaining in month and were not allowed to pay until Comdata closed the billing and generated a statement. To me that's not good business sense!

We started using COMDATA for fuel and expense cards about six months ago. At first, it took some time getting used to their portal for managing transactions, declines, running reports, etc. – but we are satisfied with the services provided so far. One of the main things we need is the timestamp (HH:MM:SS), MCC, Vendor Name, to manage transactions using live speed data. Anything less than that is not effective. They are able to provide that, and we are seeing that many of our vendor listed in our ERP – Spectrum were already accepting payments through COMDATA, which is integrated into the software. Be prepared to take about 12 months from start to finish to get fully implemented, but it was worth it in our opinion. We are able to get fuel purchased by unit, type of fuel, avg MPG, and other breakdowns that come automatically on the monthly statement. That has been helpful. After six months, we are seeing about $3,500 per month in rebates that are directly deposited into our account like clockwork. We like that too. Note: It is necessary to be provided with a full-time account manager, which COMDATA will provide, and ours is John Yakoub – we cannot say enough how much this guy has helped us out on day-to-day needs that you just got to have someone to take of on their end. He makes it work for us.
