    ​Hi CFMAers,

    I have a client who is having trouble with their current payroll provider who is unable to place employees in more than one class code.  She has employees that will work different trades throughout the day (which the NCCI allows for her type of work) and needs to track the hours for multiple class codes.

    Is anyone aware of a payroll company or software program that can allow her to assign to different workers comp class codes for the same employee?

    Foundation software allows WC classes to be assigned to cost codes, which allows one to track many different classifications for any employee. Foundation's Payroll 4 Construction is an economical payroll service where your client would enter the time cards into Foundation (or they could use Foundation Mobile and have the data come from the fiend), and P4C processes the payroll and files the payroll tax returns.

    Eric, most (and perhaps all) reputable enterprise software systems can do this based on the cost code worked, including Sage 300 CRE and Viewpoint Vista. You can also change the code during timecard entry.

    Eric,

    We use Sage 100 Contractor and it allows you to assign one WC code per employee, BUT it also allows you to assign a WC Code for each Cost code.  That way if the employee is doing Painting and its coded to a painting cost code, it will automatically put the WC code assigned to painting into their payroll time sheet.  This allows you to be able to assign multiple WC codes for each employee.  They would just need to break down the hours for each separate cost code so that way the WC codes will be assigned per Trade.     I have had similar experience to yours. It has been my experience that a good software system can help to solve this problem along with the training and experience to use the software.
