Would anyone be willing to share what they require from subs, suppliers and trucking companies in the form of Prequalification.

We started a Prequal process a number of years ago and continue to have complaints from operations that it is too stringent. Furthermore, our Subs suppliers and truckers continue to communicate that others do not require what we do.

We use a very basic  3 page questionnaire requesting general information, certifications, related entities, estimating contact, owners and key personnel, references, history of projects, bonding and insurance information including surety letter and proof of insurance meeting our limits, safety information including OSHA/MSHA citations for 3 years, EMR for last  years, financials if not bonding, and banking references.

Exceptions can be waived by the President or Owners if warranted.

Also, do you handle this process internally or through a third party?

I appreciate any thoughts on this matter.

    Thanks,

I think the items you are currently requesting are pretty standard and nothing that should cause any hardship for your subs to provide. Have you done any benchmarking? I recommend checking out the University of Michigan's and Barton Malow Company's prequal requirements which are both available online.
