Margaret: are you looking for this information at the conclusion of a project or during the progress of the project? Are you also looking for sub-subs? Contractually, you probably want to incorporate the requirement to provide the hours to you in your sub-contract agreement, because otherwise there may be no obligation to do so. On Davis Bacon jobs this information can be obtained from the certified payrolls that are supposed to be provided. On cost-plus arrangements with subcontractors, recaps of labor hours and rates are also a way to gather the subcontractor hours...but may not extend to sub-subcontractors.
