We are considering moving our current accounting software to Sage 100 Contractor. I wasn't fully sold on their payroll functionality. I was told that once all of the hours were entered and approved within Sage we would then need to send those hours to a third party application to process the payroll. I'm used to having payroll fully integrated within our accounting system and was wondering if anyone has had any experience with running Sage 100 Contractor payroll...and if so what are your likes or dislikes with it?

I have been using Sage 100 Contractor since 1995.  While it has changed owners several times, it has always been a strong and stable product.  I'm not sure why you were told that you would need a third party application to process payroll.  That has not been my experience.  The software processes payroll very nicely.  We do use two third party applications, one for a timeclock app for our field employees and then one to process the W-2's at the end of the year.

    Hey Sharon!

That's a great question.  I've been processing payroll in Sage 100 Contractor going on 9 or 10 years now and it does everything we need to do (we are union and non-union).  We use Aatrix (which is already integrated into Sage) to process payroll taxes.  Here's a link if you'd like to check out a little more information on how to process payroll in Sage: http://help-sage100contractor.na.sage.com/Sage100Contractor/US/23_3/Content/Modules/5-Payroll/Working_with_Payroll.htm?tocpath=5-Payroll%7C_____1

You will NOT need to send payroll to a third party to process if you don't want to- you can process them entirely yourself.  Your Sage 100 Consultant should be able to help you get all of this set up.  If you have any questions, I'd be happy to guide you!

    Good luck!

We use Sage 100 Contractor for payroll. We do utilize a third party payroll company, but we are not required to do so.
We do not have any problems processing payroll, but you do need to make sure that you do the year end updates to properly calculate taxes for the new year.
