Spectrum Data Hosting Performance

    Good Morning,
Does anyone have any performance issues with Spectrum when they are hosting your data? I'm mostly concerned about field personnel being able to do their work and the system running reliability, including speed. Our project managers use their I-phone as a hot spot instead of their laptops having it's own wireless card. Any system performance when using the phone for the hot spot?

Any help is appreciated. We're looking to having them host our data and it is not cheap so want to make sure it will improve performance.

We have had no performance issues. It is much faster than when we self hosted and had to go through a VPN connection. I would highly recommend using their hosting service.

We used it at my prior company with up to 20 concurrent users and had no performance problems.  The actual hosting is with Amazon Web Services.  We purchased the SQL license, or they will rent one.  The hosting is seamless, but you will have limited access to the tables.

I highky recommend it because if a company is hosted Servicr Tech becomes an option.   I also think they have a business intelligence tool for hosted instances, too.

    Good Morning,
We are Viewpoint hosted Spectrum users with 16 concurrent users, plus 30 Service Tech users.  The performance is very good, and the reliability of the AWS EC2 instance is excellent.

You should be aware that part of the "fine print" of the hosting agreement prevents the following:
    • Use of Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)
    • Installation of any 3rd Party Integration tools (i.e. Comdata Expense track sync, Cosential CRM sync tool, etc.).  They will sell you a separate VM for these tools, but you have to go through them every time you need to access that VM.
We ended up having to keep an on premises server for the integration tools, which we're planning to migrate to an Azure AD environment this year.

    Hope this helps!

This response is from my colleague Colby, who knows much more than me!

We have been with Spectrum for over 20 years and just last month went from On-Prem to Hosted. We have 80 concurrent users, over 1,000 EK users and rely heavily on Invoice Imaging and Infolink data to excel for all accounting and WIP processes. We are a specialized GC who works in remote areas so the internet connectivity was a key concern as we too do work from Hot Spots.

We have a fiber channel into our On-Prem, so we didn't expect much improvement in the field, but we have found that for our field users, the speed and quality of images have increased. The only issue we had was with the SSL certificate. We had a workaround in place which was to update the URL of their homepage because the URL redirect didn't work correctly for us.

We were apprehensive to the Hosted, but now that it is done I am looking forward to focusing a lot more into the BI that is part of the Hosted Services.

If you have any specific questions, feel free to reach out and I will be glad to help.
