HeavyBid with Foundation accounting Software?

  • 1.  HeavyBid with Foundation accounting Software?

    Hello all,

We're considering using HeavyBid to estimate (it's for a specialty subcontractor) so that we can export/import directly into Foundation software, versus having to manually enter new job and change order budgets into Foundation.

Secondary benefits would be easier access to bid history, and the possibility of using HeavyJob in the future, etc. but the time savings for accounting is our priority.

If anyone has any experience with this software combination and the export/import feature we'd appreciate your feedback.

    Good morning David,

I've used HeavyBid with Sage 300CRE, not Foundation, but can tell you that HeavyBid is not only good estimating software, it gives you the greatest flexibility in the way data is exported to a Job Cost application that I have seen.  It is easy to combine or split out Bid Items and Activities inside HeavyBid, and the software gives a lot of flexibility on the Job Cost coding and naming.

One caution, and to be fair my experience with HCSS is a couple of years old, their interfaces with 3rd party software is typically a very manual.  While they interface with a great deal of Job Cost applications, you will be doing it through a CSV file or manual, near constant, button pushing process.  This is less of an issue with going from HeavyBid to a Job Cost application, and more of an issue with what they call Truing-Up a Job Cost application with HeavyJob

    David,

Heavy Bid and Heavy Job have a lot of power.  I have experience in both but for a GC.  We were able to export our bids into the template that our Accounting system (CMiC) needed to be able to input it (with some clean up on how the PM wanted to manage the budget).   Heavy Job was great also and has been the most advanced field time card system that I had seen in the last few years and great for civil work. (But of course expensive).

I suggest you also look at B2W Software Estimate. The site work contractor I retired from has used it for over 20 years. I am not an estimator, but the estimators in our company really liked it. Also, estimators we hired from other companies said they preferred it to other estimating software they had used.

During my tenure as CFO, we successfully interfaced it with two different enterprise systems. Neither one was Foundation, but I know from other users and Foundation themselves, that the B2W interface to move new job and change order budgets directly into Foundation job cost works well.
