Good morning CFMA connected community -

I hope everyone had a wonderful 4th of July Holiday.

Please be advised that I am assisting an associate of mine with their software research project, the associate is a site-contractor.  Fortunately, the organization continues to experience growth and is also looking to add disciplines/services that can be added to their site-work contracts and services, unfortunately, their current software (QUICKBOOKS) may not be able to keep up with their future accounting/reporting needs and an eventual (or imminent) transition may be necessary.

So, I am asking for anyone with direct or indirect "Site-Contracting" organization experience to provide direction, suggestions and/or recommendations for industry specific software (specific to what you have used or are using). The software should obviously have a fully operating equipment module that tracks equipment time, both to the project and when not on a project, additionally, the ability to schedule equipment repairs and maintenance would be a huge advantage.

My personal knowledge with VIEWPOINT/VISTA and SAGE CRE-300 lead me to believe these products can do the job, however, a fellow "Site-Contractor" obviously may know better than I, and hopefully would be able to provide more direct insight into better industry suited software alternatives for my associate.

I thank you in advance for your responses and feedback, I realize your time is valaubale and it is greatly appreciated.

    Sincerely,

    Hello,

I have been and end user and implemented both software products. Vista has a larger functionality base for the equipment module. You can set up preventative maintenance and track useful life. I would be happy to give you a list of my pros and cons for each software and their customers particular pain points.

I was CFO of a site work contractor until I retired two years ago. During my tenure we implemented Viewpoint/Spectrum, which worked very well for us. The other two enterprise systems you mention are certainly worthy of consideration also.

We found, however, that the enterprise systems did not have robust enough mobile field reporting, dispatch and equipment maintenance functionality for our needs. We utilized B2W Software's One Platform of solutions for these functions. We had used "Track", their mobile field reporting solution very successfully for over 15 years. It smoothly interfaces with Vista, Sage and Spectrum, as well as the other major enterprise systems in the industry.

When we implemented Spectrum, we also implemented "Schedule," B2W's dispatch and equipment/labor scheduling element, as well as "Maintain," their equipment maintenance element. Not only do these elements have deep functionality, but they operate on the same database with the real-time exchange of information. For example, a site superintendent can report an equipment maintenance issue through mobile field reporting which will then automatically feed into the Maintain for repair scheduling and update the piece of equipment as down in Schedule.

We gained huge efficiencies and significantly reduced equipment downtime using the B2W One Platform. Please feel free to contact me directly if you would like further information

Joe,  I have worked with several firms to implemented and roll-out software from HCSS for fleet management and maintenance solutions.  They have seemed quite happy with the breadth of solutions provided by HCSS both in the Fleet and Field side of the equation.  If you have any in-depth questions on the cross-line offerings from HCSS or the ability to integrate with other software solutions, please don't hesitate to reach out.
