I am the CFO for a large Heavy Highway company in Colorado, and I also used to work for Viewpoint and COINS Construction Software.  Furthermore I have done a number of implementations of Sage 300/Timberline back "in the day".  So I have a lot of experience with equipment as well as a number of different systems, and I would be happy to talk to you about your internal equipment usage.  I will give you a call later this week.

We have found the simplest way to determine the internal rates is to mirror the rates charged by third-party equipment leasing companies. We own a fair amount of equipment but also rent a large portion, so this way no job is disadvantaged when the company-owned equipment is unavailable. Of course, the leasing companies charge different daily, weekly and monthly rates, and we don't go into this level of detail, we just charge a monthly rate (or fraction thereof).
