I have a client who maintains a fleet of approx. 100 trucks and vehicles.

Can anyone provide any recommendations for a good software package for maintaining a fleet?

This would not only include calculating depreciation, but also tracking things like maintenance milestones, registrations, fees, repair costs, useful life, etc.

We have implemented Viewpoint's Equipment Management module in Vista, and have been pleased with its functionality. We use it to track and expense all work orders, schedule standard maintenance, fluid sampling, etc.  We also use the depreciation feature.

Feel free to contact me if you would like.

The site work contractor that I was CFO of until I retired had about 150 major pieces of equipment and 30 heavy trucks. We used B2W Software's Maintain solution to track and control Equipment Maintenance.

It did not calculate depreciation, as most Enterprise/Accounting systems do that.  Maintain did however do the other things you requested. In addition to automating maintenance schedules, some of the other useful features were automated work orders, warranty tracking and mobile interface with field mechanics.

Please feel free to contact me directly if you would like more information.

We use the HCSS program Equipment 360 with the Mobile Mechanic app. It has a depreciation function but we haven't used it. We do use the other program functions to track all of the other items you mentioned including maintenance/repairs, licensing, warranties, etc. The only complaint our service department has had is the HCSS telematics system (plugs into the trucks computer and reports back mileage, location, etc) is not always super accurate with the mileage. HCSS speculates this may be cause by motors that have either had a motor swap or had the computer replaced.  Also the service alerts we get from the trucks through the telematics just give a code, not the actual description of the event causing the notice which can range from low fuel to a major engine code. We can export data to import into our accounting system.

We also use the Viewpoint Equipment Management module along with integrated GPS systems (Fleetwatcher/Vision 360/NexTraq). Viewpoint does all the maintenance, depreciation, hour tracking, etc. along with usage by jobs with rates. The module is almost like the Job Cost module where it records revenue and costs and has toolsets for PMs and Work Orders. We also use the Work Centers to calculate when a PM is Due or Overdue based on intervals for maintenance for different pieces of equipment.
