or supplier. It has been in use since the mid 1990’s and provides broader protection and better value than traditional performance and payment bonds

Logan Carter, CPA Controller
Logan has been the Controller for Kraus-Anderson Construction Company since February of 2015. Prior to being the Controller, he was the Accounting Manager. As Controller, Logan is responsible for oversight of all accounting and finance functions, including: preparation of financial statements and other analytical reporting tools for executives, providing input and critical data necessary to develop financial planning, designing and implementing internal controls while maintaining efficient processes, creating and tracking organizational and departmental budgets, and collaborating with the CFO in order to establish, monitor, and achieve both short-term and long-term financial goals. Logan is actively involved with the prequalification of subcontractors for Kraus-Anderson, including prequalification for projects with a subcontractor default insurance policy.
Heather Grazzini-Sims, VP Administration
Heather Grazzini-Sims began as a part time employee with Carciofini Comapny in 2003. Carciofini has been part of the regional caulking, coating, and expansion joint industry since 1975. She began as a part time office assistant working for her father Frank P. Grazzini as he had just purchased Carciofini Company the year before. Her full time job was in the food service industry for an upscale Minneapolis restaurant and hiring out for private catering.
In 2004 Heather became a full time employee of Carciofini Company. Serving as an Account Representative, Heather’s duties included a little bit of everything and cleaning the office too! Over the last 11 years Heather’s role has changed to a title of Vice President of Administration which includes marketing, workforce hiring and EEO goals, contract management, and insurance. Heather is part of an exceptional staff that has grown Carciofini Company into one of the largest sealant firms in the Midwest.
Heather Grazzini-Sims is a Board Member for Construct Tomorrow, Committee Chair for the Minnesota Construction Association, Management Trustee for the Laborers Health and Welfare Fund, and Management Trustee for the UCWCP. She is a past director of the St. Paul Builders’ Exchange, past Committee Chair for the MC&MCA, IFMA, and secretary of the Board for the Corcoran neighborhood Association.
In her time away from work Heather enjoys running marathons, hunting with her husband, spending time on the lake in the summer, and snowshoeing in the winter.
Sara Hordyk Portner, Regional Controller
Adolfson & Peterson
Sara is currently the Regional Controller for the Midwest division of Adolfson & Peterson Construction, a national general contractor and construction management firm. Sara’s core financial duties include reviewing and monitoring individual project budgets, establishing and managing the region’s annual overhead budget, reviewing cash receipts and subcontractor payments and validating project information for the monthly financial process. On the risk management side, Sara reviews contract documents and oversees the region’s subcontractor prequalification process including subcontractor review, project enrollments for the organization’s subcontractor default insurance program, and risk mitigation strategies.

Erik is a Minnesota native who graduated from Minnesota State University – Mankato in 2004. He began his surety career with Travelers as a trainee in 2007 in their St. Paul field office; which, is where he remains today. He is responsible for managing the Travelers surety book in Iowa as well as portions of the Minnesota book. His present role gives him the opportunity to work with contractors with sales in the billions as well as ones with sales of just a couple million and everything in between.
