    Founded in 1984, BEAR Construction Company is a family-owned General Contracting and Construction Management firm located in Chicagoland, completing work throughout Illinois and Wisconsin. In addition to our 100+ full-time professionals, we also employ a large team of union carpenters, laborers and painters.

     

    Position Overview

    The Compliance Coordinator reports to the Senior Compliance Coordinator and plays a key role in the risk management process by ensuring continual vendor compliance, as well as performing many internal audit and administrative tasks. The coordinator will work with project management and members of our accounting staff on a regular basis to correct any issues regarding contracts, subcontracts, purchase orders, invoices and insurance certificates.

     

    Responsibilities

    • Request vendor enrollment documentation for new vendors
    • Perform vendor audits, as assigned
    • Disburse compliance reports on a weekly basis and work with project management for resolution
    • Review and enter subcontracts and purchase orders
    • Perform hard close project audits, as assigned
    • Request and maintain renewal certificates from each vendor upon their policy's expiration
    • Ensure Prime Contracts, or equivalent, are on file for each construction project
    • Request lien waivers in exchange for checks, when applicable
    • Provide coverage for Project Insurance Coordinator, and others, during absences
    • Additional administrative tasks and projects, as assigned by supervisor or managerRequired Qualifications
    •  
    • 1 to 3 years in an administrative role
    • 1 to 3 years in an accounting role
    • Strong attention to detail
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products including Outlook and Excel
    • Ability to work with minimal supervision
    • Ability to effectively prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
    • Ability to accommodate additional responsibilities, as assignedPreferred Qualifications
    •  
    • Previous experience with Certificates of Insurance
    • 1+ year(s) in the Construction Industry
