Outsourced Payroll provider that KNOWS construction?

We have outgrown our current accounting software program and are looking to change.  We operate in 30+ states (including California) and have union employees, so we outsource our payroll. I am open to changing our outsourced payroll provider, as our current provider does not seem to understand construction very well. Does anyone have recommendations for a good accounting software program for a $50M+ specialty contractor that interfaces well with an outsourced payroll provider that knows construction payroll issues?  We have used "The Gorilla" in the past for payroll, and I do not want to go back to them.

I am only interested in hearing from people who have actually used the solution they are recommending.

    Thanks!

    I am interested as well.

We are a union subcontractor with 350+ employees that still collects paper timecards. We spend a day printing timecards via email, a day of data entry and a day to check and verify what was manually input. We use Sage 300 for Construction and Real Estate for accounting software, and would like something that can interface. I spent month’s working with ADP to develop an interface only to find out it wasn’t going to work because of union requirements, certified payroll requirements and ease of use for those that do not like computerized technology.

    Thanks!

Mary, look into HH2 Remote Payroll. It is not an outsource solution, but will help with your internal work flow. We used to have your same workflow, but with HH2 it has gone down significantly and there is less room for mistakes.

Long story short: Foreman/Supers do their time sheets online and that is exported directly into Sage - no need for re-entry. Not only have we saved at least a day of work, but there are far fewer mistakes. Reach out if you have any other questions.

    Hi Laura,

We switched to Foundation and P4C (Payroll 4 Construction which integrates with Foundation) and are very happy with our decision.  We are union and do almost $50M.  We used to do payroll in house and spent 2 days a week on it.  Now it's submitted by 1pm on Monday and certified payroll and union benefits are quick to do.  We have the PMs and Purchasing all working in Foundation now so we are getting great reporting and putting more accountability on them.  Feel free to reach out if you have any additional questions.

    Laura,

My advice would be to check out Payroll 4 Construction, they definitely understand construction.  Their sister company is Foundation Software, and we've been with them for about 4 years, and very pleased.  We also operate in a lot of different states.

    Hi Laura,
I recommend Plexxis software. We've been using it since 2014 and have grown from $50mm to $120 mm and the software handeled our growth seamlessly, including all payroll related functions. We are also union and in California.
Feel free to give me a call if you have any questions.

I concur with John.  There is no better construction payroll system on the market than Payroll4Construction hands down.
