Sage 100 to Sage 300 Conversion Issues

    Hello  CFMA Group:
    Would like to know if anyone is willing to share recent Sage 100 to Sage 300 conversion issues.  We are a Sage 100 user and would like the ability to bill in phases, import Excel budgets into Sage, bill on a % of completion by budget line item, charge OH&P separately (not on each line item), issue multiple joint checks with release form(s) and track insurance with required endorsements by job.

    Looking for a smart phone or tablet solution for remote time card input, would like feedback on collecting and importing the data and producing checks via a 3rd party system if possible.  Track time, job numbers, costs codes etc. and import to a 3rd party platform for check cutting and payroll compliance.

    We've used what is now Sage 300 for over 20 years.  I don't use all the features that you mention, but every estimate we use is imported from an Excel sheet. It's quick and easy. I also import certain costs each month, such as an insurance allocation, medical plan allocation, and overhead. We bill OH&P separately, by each Change Request. There are a couple ways to do it. It will track insurance by policy, though I don't think it can track endorsements. There is a Compliance feature that tracks insurance, lien releases. We can have as many joint checks as we would like.

    I have just spent several months researching software application that can capture time data from the field for export into Sage.  Our criteria was that it needed to operate in the field when cell or WiFi service is not available.  (We have job sites in remote areas sometimes.)  The download happens automatically when the device does reach service area.  We wanted daily information that can be entered on cell phone or tablet (Apple or Android) in the form of a daily report.  We wanted to have accident reporting done and send to the office.  We required that it be easy to use and ultimately save time.  There were other wishes regarding equipment, change notifications, and back charge incidents too.  I reviewed Sage Service Operations (Sage 100), HH2 product, Syscon F.I.T., and About Time product WorkMax.

    We found that WorkMax covered our criteria the best.  The people were easy to work with.  They offer online help similar to Sage Knowledge Base.  The pricing was competitive.  I am also able to create additional forms on my own with no additional fee.  Each employee has permissions based on their log in and we have a supervisor sign off and two additional reviews before it goes to accounting.  Something that it also offered was GPS tracking info and face recognition when an employee signs in for work.

    You might consider Acumatica Construction Edition.  It offers the features you identified in a true cloud based solution.
