Our company has been using ComputerEase since 2011. Their customer service is responsive and they are continually updating the software with user requests. Feel free to give me a call if you would like to discuss.

I have several clients that have moved over to ComputerEase and I am frustrated by the format of the balance sheets they send me. Apparently ComputerEase does not by default generate a balance sheet with the structure that I typically get from my clients using other packages. The most obvious are missing intermediate totals for current assets and current liabilities. It just lists all the accounts and gives a total for assets and another total for liabilities. How do you get ComputerEase to produce more structure in the balance sheet so it looks like what the underwriter would typically expect? I attached a sample of the assets section from a ComputerEase balance sheet.

Eric,

I completely understand what you are saying! However, you can fully customize how your balance sheet and profit/loss are laid out and subtotaled. If you have them go to General Ledger - Reports - Balance Sheet (or whatever report they want to customize), and select edit it will bring up another screen where you can enter subtotals. From there drag and drop what accounts you want in that header or subtotal. You can see my screen shot below where I have headers and subtotals that I have added. Click the "insert" button and it will bring up options for text, totals, line breaks, end of report, etc.

I hope these screen shots help, I have a much more detailed balance sheet than the standard report. You can also set certain parts to print as summary or detail, and then depending on if you print the report with detail or summary, you'll get different levels of information.

Feel free to email me with more specific questions!

Thank you to Leila Bennett-Snow with Strategic Mechanical Inc. and Ken Kemp with NEXTSYSTEMS, the ComputerEase rep in our region. After my concern with the default presentation of the balance sheet produced by ComputerEase, I am very pleased to say that I received great information from these two. They were able to give me simple instructions that I sent to my clients and I am now getting exactly the balance sheet format that is ideal for presentation to the surety underwriters. I can only imagine that this is also going to help my clients with their bank and prequalification, even though prequalification might now not suggest bonding! This is exactly why my clients need to all be active members of CFMA.

The issue with the formatting on the balance sheet is your customer is using the standard default.  It only takes 15 minutes to customize the default balance sheet to something more usable.  Have your client call CE Support group and they can walk them through how to create balance sheets with groupings, subtotals, etc.  The same is true for P&L's and Cash Flow statements.

We have been using ComputerEase since April 2016. Our implementation was smooth for the most part. They have a great implementation staff/trainer that works with you every step of the way. There are definitely some nuances with the software that take time to get used to, but I think it will be that way with any software you choose. We switched from American Contractor. The reporting capabilities are far beyond what we had before. Feel free to reach out with any specific questions you have. Good luck in your decision making!

Marsha,

I recently discussed Computerease with a client. They liked it but wanted more project management features integrated with accounting. RedTeam offered a good solution for them and they seemed pleased with what we could do for them, it's a very large group so they are still evaluating options. We would love to connect and explore if we may be a good fit for you.

We are a site work contractor and have been using Computerease since April 2015.   We converted over from QuickBooks and have been satisfied with the software.   Job Cost reporting was our number one need at the time and it does a wonderful job of that.   Implementation went well and I would suggest having all of your users involved in training up front so that they understand the software better and that way all features that are offered can be utilized.

Feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions.

Thanks

Hi Marsha,
I have used ComputerEase at two of the companies that I have worked at and definitely liked the software.  It is very easy to use and its module integrations are seamless.  We did not use it for project management however so I cannot speak to that.  Overall, I feel it is a good core accounting software package.
