1.  Salary ranges

Posted 11 days ago
I'm looking for suggestions to find salary ranges for office positions.  I find it especially difficult in the construction industries to get find applicable roles to compare salaries.

For example, a Contract Administrator - that could me so many things, in addition to the other variables like location and company size - so how do I find if we're paying competitively for this role?

We participate in annual salary surveys but they are skewed toward operations positions - superintendents, project managers, estimators, etc.
It would be useful to know wage rates for the positions of receptionist, secretary, payroll clerk, accounts payable clerk, accounts receivable clerk, and accountant.

I used PAS, Inc. for salary ranges when I was a controller for a road builder a few years back. It cost money - however, it is worth it. Plus, Jeff Robinson from PAS, Inc. is a CFMA member.

Ranstad Professionals produces and annual finance & accounting salary guide. It's broken down by state, metro area, and company size. You will find salary ranges from AP Clerk up to executive levels.

Good morning,

I'm trying to find salary information for all positions, including executive level, relevant to our company size and geographic area. I've tried salary.com, payscale.com, glassdoor.com and roberthalf.com. I also find it difficult to determine construction industry specific job roles as they relate to general contractors and specialty contractors.

Roberthalf.com has a salary calculator to determine finance, accounting and administrative salary ranges. The calculator asks for job information including geographic information to arrive at a salary range not including benefits or bonuses. I hope this helps.

Thanks,

I have found that ABC and AGC are pretty good sources and more specific to each region.  The more people that participate in the annual surveys, the higher the quality of data.

Deanna,

Have you done any searches within glassdoor.com.  This isn't a perfect tool but you can search search salaries > position by location > industry.  This will give you the salary range and average salary based on your criteria.  Of course this is reliant on community reporting.

I too have used PAS's Executive and Support Staff salary survey data.  I have found it to be very helpful and construction industry specific.
