We are evaluating replacements for our Estimating, Project Management and Financial systems.  Looking for a fully integrated solution.

Any suggestions or feedback on the following are greatly appreciated:  Epicor, Infor, Oracle Cloud Solutions (Terillim VAR), Sage 100, Sage X3

Thanks!

Don

We currently are using Spectrum by Dexter + Chaney.  I'm not sure about the estimating though.  If interested, you can reach out to our sales manager:

Good day Don,

We are a heavy civil and mining contractor and have used HCSS's Heavy Bid for nine years.  We have recently switched over to Dexter & Chaney's Spectrum for our ERP system.  A close 2nd was Exporer's Exclipse.  Both software systems have strong project management/job cost modules and both can accept project budget downloads from Heavy Bid.

If you would like to talk off line I am available,

Regards,
Greg

We have been using Sage 300 since 1997. There were a few years in which I thought seriously of switching, but the last couple years have been very smooth. We use Sage for Accounting, Project Management and Job Cost. We've looked at the Estimating program, but our Estimators are more comfortable with an Excel spreadsheet. I've looked seriously at Viewpoint and Dexter Cheney, but could not justify the cost / benefit of switching. I'm not sure which I would choose if I were starting over.

Hello Don.

We are in the process of evaluating and ERP as well as CRM.

Currently we are on Sage 100 Contractor, which I do not recommend at all.  This system was purchased 4 years ago (3 months before I got here) and it's been a nightmare ever since.  We've had to take it off our network and host it remotely because it kept crashing, support is a nightmare and only patches it, the newest version (V20 I believe) is actually worse than the previous version for looking up information, and the reporting is all "custom" that we have to pay for.  Not to be a debbie downer but I wouldn't want anyone in CFMA to suffer like we have over the past 4 years to make an ERP work. (heard Sage 100 is just as hard to use as Sage 100 Contractor)

We are looking at Microsoft Dynamics, NetSuite, and Sage X3 as well.  (Cloud based) Looking to make the transition in the next 6-24 months depending on the economy.

Good luck!

We have been going through a similar process. It seems like many construction companies are struggling with the same problems. We call it our "unicorn". For us, we were tired of the bolt ons, and one way communication with sage 300 CRE. We are looking to simplify things and get a CRM tool that is inside the ERP, giving sales direct insight to job status, schedule, communications, etc, as well as simplified project management and better reporting and analysis. We are a multifamily remodeler/renovator and sage was simply a bad product for us. We seem to have a pretty good possibility with Microsoft NAV with Project Pro by GEMKO. Project Pro is integrated inside NAV and appears to connect all business processes in one place. They have implemented this product with a large number of construction companies and been working with NAV for 20 years. In addition, Microsoft is incorporating more and more applications together in office 365 and Azure which is allowing users to be in a single sign on environment, and have the ability to easily use the office suite of products with your accounting ERP. If you are not building large buildings from ground up or heavy/civil construction, this could be a good viable option.

We stumbled upon it and are very encouraged.

We use Spectrum by Dexter & Chaney.  Several years ago we did a review of the systems out there and quickly narrowed it down to Viewpoint and Spectrum.  We were using Spectrum at the time but weren't sure they were the best system for us.  After the review of a number of various options in addition to those two, we decided to stay with Spectrum.

Hello Don,

Our company, Aktion Associates, is responsible for almost all levels of support and procurement for both Sage and Infor applications. We have several hundred Sage 100 and Sage 300 clients that leverage our data center for housing their applications and data. We also have several Infor clients that have chosen us for this service as well, however most have decided to use on-premise solutions for this business application. There are other clients that have used Aktion for application deployment and optimization as well. I would be more than happy to have you talk to any one of our clients at any level of software adoption/integration. Aktion Associates, provides procurement services, cloud hosting, patch management, and integration services for over a thousand clients leveraging either Sage 100/300 or Infor, so you will have plenty of people that you can lean on for advice. I don't think you are in our territory, but let me know if I can help.
