Has anyone had any experience with HH2 remote payroll? We are on Sage 300 and had an introductory meeting about it today and we were pretty impressed. They don't require you to sign any contract and the prices seemed reasonable as a monthly bill based on number of employees. Just curious if anyone has implemented this software with Sage 300 or have had any experience with it. Thanks!

Hi Derek,

Our company has been using HH2 remote payroll for a couple of years now. I would be happy to schedule a quick call to discuss our experience with the process if you would like.

We have used hh2 for about a year now and are very happy with the results.  I would say that it is as straightforward as they make it sound.  I did look at other remote payroll systems, but in my opinion hh2 had the best solution for us as it integrated with Sage 300 and could handle our somewhat complicated union/prevailing wage multiple job issues.

We have used hh2 for 5 years.  Initially, it was a bit bumpy. They have made drastic improvements both to the process and the portal.  We are in love with it now.  The primary challenge we still face is getting managers to approve time.  We finally altered our procedure to allow managers a window to approve, and if they didn't, approval was assumed (essentially a manager denial vs. approval).  Occasionally, we have to move time/enter a correction because of this, but it's not a big deal in the grand scheme of things.

A second item of (small) consideration is the nature of entries in payroll itself from hh2.  When entering time directly in payroll (manually), at the time of process, the entries are summarized (i.e. entries are grouped into one line item for X number similar hours – think employee, job, cost code, category are the same).  Hh2 will pass over individual entries even if the coding is identical because there is a new a new unique field – the date of work.  For those that do government work, or have to otherwise report Davis Bacon/etc., there will be no real change.  It isn't a big deal – just something to be aware of. Note that when entries are passed to JC, they are still grouped, depending on your JC settings.

I would highly recommend hh2 for anyone looking to eliminate the burdensome paper process of payroll on timesheets.

I used hh2 for years with Sage 300. Hardly any errors. We also used the HR module and managed our benefits enrollment. So much easier than doing it in Sage.

Thanks for the responses everyone. It definitely sounds like the response is positive, and considering the low cost to implement it I think we are going to give it a try.

For those of you successfully using HH2, could you share your experience with internet connectivity?  Do you use the app on a phone or tablet or do you enter time directly into HH2 online?  Do your field employees enter their own time or do your superintendents enter it for them?

We tried using HH2 without the app and it worked very well in our office.  However, when we tried to use it in the field (our superintendents enter the time for all employees) where we have slower internet speeds our superintendents raised concerns that it was too laggy (delayed response when typing) to be useful.  We ended up moving back to an excel based time card (for our field forces) that does not require a full time internet connection.

I would love to hear how others have been able to successfully work around internet connectivity issues in the field.

Thank you for your time,

I have been using hh2 since the early days over 10 years now. They have a nice product and the cheapest that works with sage 300. Best is to have time sheets for field guys and have someone in accounting or payroll enter those on hh2 so you follow the approval process. Or have supers enter those or send them by project. Field guys do make errors all the time so you are better off this way. One limitation I found is if you run hh2 Sage and a third party payroll processor like adp paychecks etc. you can not track the job costing through those and have to process the payroll in sage 300 regardless to make sure costs hit the job. But hh2 is not a payroll application. It is electronic time keeping software so it is good for that purpose alone. If you do payroll in house no problem. I had to do 15 states and used adp. Once you get in a routine and map the process even multi state and other software will not be an issue.

Just one quick addition to Angel's comment. If you do outsource your payroll to ADP or PayChex, you can have them or a 3rd party create an export file to go into your Sage 300 Job cost files. Viewpoint works a little difference but both Sage 300 and Viewpoint V6 will take job-costed files eliminating the need to use a payroll module.  Some 3rd party distributers are unaware of this option.

Another question related to HH2 remote payroll - has anyone used it with Viewpoint Vista and if so, what was your experience with it?
