Budgeting Software - Cost vs. Rewards

My firm has been utilizing Spectrum/Viewpoint since 2012. For all that are familiar with the software, the budgeting capabilities are non-existent. Therefore three years ago, I researched, shopped and courted several different options that met my requirements without breaking the bank. After weeks of negotiating, I decided on Adaptive Insights. And while I am happy with the overall functionality and would not wish another implementation on my worst enemy I am extremely tempted to switch over to Prophix as it is a partner with Spectrum.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

We are currently using Prophix as our financial reporting software with Spectrum and are extremely happy.  We consolidate nearly 100 cost center P&L's into 10 locations and 2 regions for our main company.  We also consolidate our main company with a transportation company and 2 real estate companies into 1 consolidated company for reporting purposes.  All of our Budgeting and projections run through Prophix as well.

We have been using Prophix for about a year now. The initial implementation was extremely easy and we had financial statements generated through Prophix in about a week. We have since added a couple of additional cubes for WIP reporting and labor data. Please give me a call if you have any questions and would like to discuss further.

    Amy,

I used Prophix and Spectrum at my previous position as controller/Chief Analytics Officer for a large GC.  The sales and support teams were great to work with and the implementation team did an amazing job of getting us setup and functional in a short amount of time.  In addition, the software has great capabilities to be used for financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting and several other areas outside of finance.  Prophix also has capabilities to bring information from other sources in addition to your Spectrum data.

I had conversations with other Prophix potential clients and users in that role as well.  I am working in consulting now, but would be happy to visit with you on any questions you may have, what is possible to implement in finance and accounting, and/or the other areas that could benefit from the software.

This is a very interesting discussion.  Does Prophix assist in a cash flow forecast as well?

    Joseph,

Prophix is a very powerful tool to use for forecasting, including cash flow.  It can also pull information from multiple sources.

You may want to checkout their website for information and white papers.  (https://www.prophix.com/solutions/cash-flow-planning/)

I am happy to discuss with you further my experience or questions you may have, feel free to contact me.
