Does anyone have an unlimited PTO policy?  If so, how do you manage job schedules especially around holidays?

We implemented Unlimited PTO for our salaried people this Spring.  Just like with traditional PTO, people have to request their time off from their manager.  We track the Time Off taken, but we don't balance it against an accrual.  if too many people have already requested the time off, it is up to the manager to say No to some people.

    We set parameters around PTO.

Executive must be in the office always.

Each job must have a Superintendent or Foreman on the job.

When you submit PTO, you list the jobs you are on and who you have asked to be your back up if necessary.

This seems to work well, as the individual works it out with their own team.  They are working together which builds goodwill, rather than managers saying yes or no and causing ill will.
