    Looking for some feedback on converting to a VOIP phone system in a relatively small office.  Approximately 25 handsets, about 35 users.

    Any thoughts and or legwork already done would be greatly appreciated!

    We are of similar size and we have been using Shoretel for our VOIP software and hardware for over 5 years.  We have been very pleased with the results.  The firm that provides our network consulting also sells, installs, and supports Shoretel, and that was a large factor in our decision.  The pricing was also very competitive.  The user interface is very intuitive, which is very important to busy project managers.  The product is very scalable, which could be important if you are planning any satellite offices.  I would recommend that you evaluate the product.

    We are using a CISCO VOIP system.  We really like the system and have been on it for 5+ years. I can connect you to our IT Director if you would like.  Let me know.

    Hi Joe -

    We did a bunch of research and selected Fonality as they host the VOIP for us.

    Here are the reasons we selected them:
    a) they have an auto attendant system that routes calls
    b) they provide direct dial numbers
    c) they provide desktop phone sets
    d) they have a "soft client" which means you can use your laptop computer as a phone when you travel, the call comes from your direct dial number
    e) they have voice mail to email
    f) everyone gets an internal extension, you can dial co-workers by extension
    g) the system works across multiple office locations
    h) they are cost effective
