"Is Microsoft punishing Office Users?"  informing us of a license being tied permanently to only one PC enough to make you move to Office 365?

    Carol,

Great question!  I didn't read the link, because we have recently done just that.  Our hosted Exchange server is more than 4 years old, and running 2003 version...talk about behind the times.  But you know, if it ain't broke...

The decision for us came down to proactively replacing the server and Exchange vs. moving to cloud-hosted Office365.  Simply put, Why have the first costs?  Only 25 email accounts, so it felt like a no-brainer.  In either case there was a migration cost, and since Office365 works with OEM versions from MS Office 2007 and up seemlessly, we pulled the trigger on Office365.

So far, so good after about 45 days.  Now, we'll see what other bells and whistles we can take advantage of.

    Joe.

Interestingly enough shortly after I posted this, Microsoft decided to lift the restriction and honor their past approach to moving a license once every 90 days due to public outcry

One reason to move is that the Outlook Social Connector is automatically installed, helping those with volumes of email contacts to recall who a connection is with quick access to their LinkedIn profile in side Outlook.  This will be a point of discussion in my "Taming the email Monster" session at CFMA 2013 Annual Conference in San Diego.
