We are looking to move from Vista on premises to the Cloud.  We currently use VCM for our document storage system but would move documents back to VISTA in the cloud.  We are interested if others have moved to the cloud and what the process was like.  Primary questions we are looking to answer:

Why did you decide to move to the cloud?

When you were on prem, what other Viewpoint products did you use with VISTA (VCM, Field Time, Keystyles)?

Now that you are on the cloud are you using the same products or different ones?

    How long did implementation take?

Was this an easy transition for end users?

What would you consider doing differently?

Do you currently create Vista users with an Active Directory account? (If AD, did you need a web server to connect to VISTA in the cloud to handle AD accounts?)

Our company is also considering moving to the cloud in the future. We did a preliminary investigation and answers we gathered indicated the Cloud worked well but our main concern was connectivity to other software we use within the cloud and the time needed to test them. For example, we use HCSS for time and attendance as well as estimating, GSS for financial reporting, Cosential connected to Vista, etc.

I am curious to know how you will transition from VCM to DM as well. We have been using VCM for many years and use many of the toolsets including Receivers in batches, lookups, Outlook Add-in, etc. Have you been told that DM in Vista has been improved to handle more Document Management functions and how will you get your documents out of VCM back to DM?

    Paul and Susan,

I am working with Requordit out of Chicago and we provide content management and workflow solutions.  We do have a couple of options when it comes to your VCM replacement.  Our solution is part of the Hyland OnBase Platform and can act as an integrated Viewpoint (API Level) stand-alone AP Workflow Solution that can help you with receivers, lookups and Outlook integration etc...  We also have a solution that utilizes the OnBase Solution as an integrated repository.  This solution will provide a true content / document management back end to the Viewpoint offering.  Our solution allows the use of Viewpoint unapproved invoices or KeyStyles as a hybrid approach.

I would be happy to schedule a all with you to discuss the pros and cons of moving from VCM / Application Xtender to Viewpoint Document Managerm

Please let me know if you would like to schedule a call to discuss.
